Dog Grooming Term
Facility-only licensing
Definition
A license issued for the shop or the operator, with nothing asked of the groomer.
Why It Matters
Connecticut licenses the business of grooming on sanitation, disease, humane treatment and public safety, for two hundred dollars, and asks nothing about skill. Colorado goes further and licenses an independent contractor groomer as its own category at three hundred and fifty dollars, and still asks only for the applicant's qualifying course. So a groomer is billable on the first day everywhere read here. The cost sits on the license: Connecticut's transfers between premises, and a change of owner starts a fresh application.
