Pet Boarding & Daycare Term

Kennel license

Definition

The permission to board animals for a fee, which is issued per premises and screens nobody.

Why It Matters

Kansas requires a boarding or training kennel operator license for each premises, running to the thirtieth of September whenever it is issued, and it defines the trade by a threshold worth knowing: four or more dogs or cats in any one week for a fee. The words criminal, background and fingerprint do not appear in that section at all. The nearest thing to screening is a discretionary ground to refuse or revoke on conviction of a crime relating to the theft of animals, and nothing requires anyone to look for one. A license may not be transferred to unlicensed premises or used by an unlicensed person, so a buyer applies for their own.
