Pet Boarding & Daycare Term

Commingling supervision ratio

Definition

The number of dogs one person may supervise in a shared play area at once.

Why It Matters

Colorado sets one human supervisor for every fifteen dogs in each common area, present at all times and at least sixteen years old, and says a video feed or a window is not supervision. Somebody grooming another animal does not count either. No state read here asks a boarding worker to hold any training at all, so this trade regulates the facility and never the worker. The ratio is what sets the labor model: it caps how much revenue a given floor plan can carry, and what it counts is bodies.
