Pest Control Term

Rodenticide use moratorium

Definition

A state ban on using a rodenticide class, which no applicator license buys back.

Why It Matters

California prohibits the USE of second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides statewide until its own regulator certifies otherwise, and a structural applicator's license does not buy that back: the restriction attaches to the product and not to the person holding it. The exceptions are contracts and not loopholes, and they are where the work went. Vector control districts, water and energy infrastructure, food production sites and warehouses may all still be treated. Read the revenue for how much of it depends on a chemistry the state has taken away, then ask what the crew switched to and what the switch costs per stop.
