Why It Matters

Insulating glass units are certified to a published performance specification through an accredited certification council, and the unit warranty runs with the product. The replacement labor usually does not, so a book of ten-year-old residential work is a labor liability with no matching revenue. Ten years is the term the federal guide specification requires on defense work; treat any other number as a claim about that contract and not about the industry. Ask what the shop actually promised, in writing, on its last three years of residential jobs.
