SBA Loan Explorer
Two Cohorts, Two Questions
Volume, median size, and total approved come from FY2020 through FY2025: what buyers are actually financing now. The charge-off rate comes from FY2018-19 change-of-ownership approvals (7-8 years seasoned), and only from there, because a loan approved last year has not had time to fail. Blending the two would make every industry look safe.
A dash in the charge-off column means the sample is too small to publish a rate we would stand behind, not that nothing ever failed. Read the ordering rather than the level: these count loans already written off, so every rate is a floor.
