Auto Body Shop Term

Spray booth filter

Definition

The intake and exhaust filters a paint booth needs to hold its air permit and its finish.

Why It Matters

A booth run past its filter change fails inspection and lays a contaminated finish, which the shop absorbs as rework it cannot bill. The logs sit beside the permit and are the cheapest read available on whether maintenance was deferred generally. A current permit with no logs behind it is a booth about to need work, and that work happens while the booth is not earning.
