Auto Body Shop Term

Direct repair program (DRP)

Definition

An insurer steering claims to a shop in return for rates, parts terms, and a scorecard.

Why It Matters

It is the referral pipeline of a collision business and its largest concentration risk in the same agreement. A shop leaning on one insurer lives by that insurer's next rate change or scorecard revision, neither of which it can appeal. Ask what share of work comes through each program and how the shop performs on the metrics that keep it there, then ask what the local demand looks like without them.
