Urgent Care Center Term
Occupational medicine (occ-med)
Definition
Employer-paid work such as drug screens and injury care, run beside the walk-in business.
Why It Matters
It is better margin, contracted, and far steadier than walk-in volume, so its share is a quality signal worth weighing. The relationships behind it are the question: ask which employers, how long each has been a client, and who at the center keeps that relationship warm. Employer contracts renew on someone's decision every year, and if that decision has been influenced by the departing owner it is not as contracted as it looks.
