The center's own controlled-substance registration, held by the entity and not by its doctors.

Why It Matters

A center that only writes prescriptions leans on the individual registrations its physicians hold. One that stocks and hands out controlled substances on site is a dispenser in its own right, and the federal schedule of business activities lists the hospital or clinic beside the practitioner and the retail pharmacy as a registrant class of its own. Which one the center holds decides who answers for the storage, the records and the count, and it decides what happens when a physician leaves, because an entity registration survives a departure and a personal one walks out with its holder. Establish which is actually on file, then ask to see the inventory records and the dispensing log for anything kept on site. A center dispensing against a physician's personal registration is a finding, not a filing detail.
