Swim School Term

Class ratio

Definition

How many swimmers one instructor teaches at once, which sets both the cost and the price.

Why It Matters

It is the unit economics of a swim school in one number: three-to-one at a premium price and six-to-one at a lower one can produce the same revenue per lane hour and very different parent satisfaction. Insurance and the curriculum both have opinions about it. Ask the ratio by level, what the pool's lane-hour capacity is, and how full those hours actually run, because an empty Tuesday morning is the real constraint rather than the ratio.
