Safety data sheet transmittal

Definition

The duty to pass every chemical's label and data sheet to the buyer who uses it.

Why It Matters

The hazard communication rule reaches distributors directly: what a manufacturer classifies has to arrive with the customer, in the label on the container and the data sheet in their file. A house that ships a concentrate and keeps the paperwork on its own shelf has not complied, and the customer's own inspection is usually where that surfaces. Ask how sheets are sent and when they were last refreshed against each manufacturer's current version, because a sheet two revisions old is the one an inspector reads back to your customer.
