Definition

The duty to ship each hazardous chemical labeled, with its data sheet on the first shipment and each update.

Why It Matters

The hazard communication rule reaches distributors directly: each container of a hazardous chemical leaves labeled, and its data sheet goes to the business buyer with the first shipment and with the first one after the sheet changes. A registered disinfectant takes its label from the pesticide rules, but its data sheet still travels. A house that keeps the paperwork on its own shelf has not complied, and the customer's own inspection is usually where that surfaces. Ask how sheets are sent and when they were last refreshed against each manufacturer's current version.
