Hardware Store Term
Affiliate receipts
Definition
The rule that counts a buyer's other businesses against the same federal size ceiling.
Why It Matters
The size standard for hardware retail is the tightest receipts figure among the trades on this shelf, and the rule counts the applicant together with its affiliates and not the store alone. A searcher who already owns one business is therefore spending part of the ceiling before they start. It binds on the second store and not the first, which is exactly when nobody checks. Work out the combined figure before writing an offer on a group, and expect the lender to work it out too.
