Why It Matters

Two of this guide's terms lean on this and neither says it. The room permit says the room count is a permission, and owner-occupied premises says living there changes the financing and the recast. In Ohio it is also what keeps the kitchen unlicensed. A private home run as a bed and breakfast is excluded from food service licensing if the home is owner-occupied, the guest bedrooms number six or fewer, breakfast is the only meal offered, and no more than sixteen guests are served. Every conventional improvement plan breaks one of the four. A seventh bedroom breaks it. Adding dinner breaks it. Taking a wedding past sixteen breaks it. Hiring a manager and moving out breaks it, which is the whole absentee thesis. What replaces it is a licensed food service operation, with the kitchen build and the inspections that implies.
