Redrawing a business's reported financials to show its true owner earnings, moving personal and one-time items out of the expenses so the profit a buyer would actually keep is visible.

The recast is the number the whole price is built on, so a careful buyer reproduces it from the tax returns rather than trusting the seller's spreadsheet; the gap between the two is the negotiation.
