Active Search Funds

Still Looking in the United States

Each of these publishes a United States base, or criteria that name the country it is buying in. A vehicle naming both sides of the border is here rather than below.

Still Looking Outside the United States

Each of these publishes a base somewhere else, or criteria naming a country that is not the United States, or prices what it wants in a currency that is not the dollar.

Still Looking, Territory Not Published

These publish no base and say nothing about where they are buying. Neither half of the question above has an answer on their own sites, so neither half is answered for them here. Any one of them may well be looking in your country.

What the Rosters Still Name

Every name on every backer’s list of current searches was opened at its own address, and the ones still searching are above. The rest, already bought, not found, an investor after all, or a search that ended, are read row by row in The Roster Record.

Method & Source

A search fund is a person part-way through a project, so this is the one list here whose central claim expires by itself. Each entry states the day its own site was read, and a backer’s listing is how a name was found rather than why it is here. Nearly every candidate came from a firm that publishes who is searching for it, and how well those lists hold up varies far more than expected, so each is reported on its own terms rather than as a rule about backers. They are in alphabetical order, because a list’s numbers are partly a fact about how recently somebody edited it and ordering by them would read as a ranking of the firms.

The three shelves above split on territory, which is two separate facts read together: where a vehicle says it is based, and where its own criteria say it is buying. A base is not a territory, so where a vehicle publishes both and they differ, what it says it is buying decides. Where it publishes neither, it stays in the third group rather than being assigned to a country it never named.

A vehicle that announces a purchase is a lead for the Search Acquisitions Record instead, and comes off this page when it does. If you run one of these and the entry is wrong, or you are searching and are not here, the contact page reaches us.
