Vending Machine Term

Planogram

Definition

The fixed layout of what goes in each slot of a machine, and at what price.

Why It Matters

It is where a route's margin actually lives, because the mix of what sells at what price beats the machine count by a wide margin. A route running the same layout it ran five years ago is one where cost increases have been absorbed instead of passed on, which shows up as thin margins nobody can explain. Ask when prices last moved and what the slot-level sales data says, since both are usually in the telemetry already.
