The driver's physical examination report, which the bus owner keeps for six years.

Why It Matters

Ohio puts the retention on the operator: paragraph (E)(7) of rule 3301-83-07 says physical examination reports for persons certified by the medical examiner are to be retained for a period of six years by the school bus or motor van owner. The exam is keyed to the school calendar and not to a rolling year, because paragraph (C)(1) schedules it after the first day of May and makes it valid for the upcoming school year. Both facts land on a buyer. A deal closing in the winter inherits certificates that expire together at the end of the term, and six years of reports sit in the seller's cabinet, so settle whether they travel with the fleet or stay with the entity that held them.
