Plumbing Term

Truck stock

Definition

The parts a van carries so a technician can finish a job without leaving for supply.

Why It Matters

It is inventory that never appears on a balance sheet as inventory, and it decides the number that actually matters, which is first-visit completion. A shop whose vans are thin sends technicians to the supply house mid-job, and every one of those trips is an hour nobody bills. In diligence, count the vans and price what is on them, then ask what share of jobs finish on the first visit: the two numbers explain each other.
