Locksmith Term

Advertised address rule

Definition

Every ad must carry the license number and a real in-state street address, never a mailbox.

Why It Matters

This is what legislatures did instead of a price rule, and the difference matters before buying a shop that competes with call centers. No state requires a locksmith to quote a price before dispatching a van. Illinois went at the same abuse from the other side, requiring the licensee's name, the license number, and the city and state of a street address business is actually conducted from, which no post office box satisfies. A national dispatcher cannot lawfully advertise as the local shop. Check the seller's listings and vehicle lettering against the license record, because inherited advertising is inherited exposure.
