The boiler's own permit, which expires a year after its last internal inspection.

Why It Matters

It renews on a file and not on a fee. Before the permit expires a certified inspector reads the operating logs and the water treatment records and inspects the boiler externally, so paperwork the seller kept or did not keep decides whether the machine is legal in the month after closing. Ask for the current permit, the date it expires and the logs behind it, and read a thin water-treatment record as a repair bill waiting, not a filing gap. Scope is worth settling early: the orders carry exemptions by size and pressure, and a small store running domestic-sized heaters may sit outside them, which changes what the diligence budget has to cover.
