Finish Carpentry Term
Composite wood certification
Definition
The supplier paperwork proving the panel products in a cabinet meet the formaldehyde limits.
Why It Matters
Federal rules set emission limits for hardwood plywood, medium density fiberboard and particleboard, and the duty to hold proof falls on the fabricator and not only the panel mill. A shop must obtain bills of lading, invoices or comparable documents carrying a written statement from the supplier that the products are compliant, and keep those records. It is a records test a buyer can actually run, and a shop that cannot produce the statements has an exposure that arrives with the inventory.
