Dry Cleaner Term
Facility registration
Definition
The plant's registration with the environmental regulator, filed by the operator and the landlord together.
Why It Matters
This is the one permission in the trade that puts a third party inside the deal. Florida requires the owner or operator of a drycleaning facility and the real property owner to register the facility jointly with the department, which means the landlord signs for the site alongside whoever runs the machines. The filing itself is cheap, $100 to register and $100 a year to renew, so a lapse is never about the money and always about who stopped paying attention. Confirm the registration is current, get the landlord's position in writing before the lease assignment is negotiated, and treat the joint filing as the reason the environmental work cannot wait until the end.
