The Firm
Founded by Greg Flynn, the company calls itself the world's largest franchise operator, with thousands of restaurants across Applebee's, Taco Bell, Panera, Arby's, Pizza Hut, and Wendy's plus Planet Fitness clubs, generating more than $3.5 billion in annual sales. It grows by buying other franchisees' portfolios whole: eighty-three Wendy's in one 2024 transaction, forty-five Pizza Huts across three states in 2025.
The model is operational scale inside other people's brands: Flynn does not own the flag, it owns the units, and its edge is running them better than the seller could. In late 2025 it added a Growth division built around younger brands, opening with the 7 Brew drive-through coffee chain, which signals appetite beyond the mature systems it is known for.
For a restaurant or franchise-resale searcher the meaning is double. As a rival, Flynn does not bid on single units, so the one-store deal is safe from it, but it sets the multiple ceiling for multi-unit packages and it is the natural exit for a searcher who builds from one store to seven. As a place to interview, it is the largest operator-employer in franchising, and its own language stresses unit-level operating discipline over brand romance.
