Definition

Roadside jobs dispatched by a club or insurer at a set rate well below a retail tow.

Why It Matters

The calls fill hours a truck would otherwise sit idle, and they are the reason a small fleet can run two shifts, but the rate is set by the club and it does not follow the price of fuel. A book that is mostly motor club work is busy and thin; one that is mostly police rotation and private property impounds is lumpy and rich. Ask for revenue per truck split by source before pricing either one.
