Septic Service Term
Maintenance entity
Definition
A company the state permits to service advanced septic systems under a required contract.
Why It Matters
A managed route is normally a commercial achievement, and on advanced systems it is the law. Florida requires the owner of an aerobic treatment unit to keep a current maintenance agreement with an entity the department has permitted, and requires that entity to inspect each system at least twice a year and report quarterly. So this is the one part of a septic book where the recurrence is statutory, the frequency is twice a year against once in three to five, and the set of companies allowed to hold the contract is closed. It does not travel with the trucks. The permit sits on the entity and the qualifying criteria run to training, parts and response time, so an asset purchase that ignores it buys the route and not the right to serve it.
