Ohio forbids starting the service at all while the customer's three days to cancel run.

Why It Matters

This is the rule most likely to be news to an operator. Ohio does not merely give the customer three business days on a sale made in the home; it bars the seller from commencing performance during them, with one carve-out for home security and automation systems. A same-day in-home cleaning is therefore either excluded or unlawful, and the trade sits on the line: the state excludes a buyer-initiated call to maintain the buyer's personal property, which an area rug is and installed wall-to-wall carpet arguably is not, and it excludes a buyer-initiated call only where the seller keeps a fixed in-state establishment, which a van-based cleaner may not. Failing those sections is a deceptive act by statute, which opens rescission plus noneconomic damages, and a cleaned carpet cannot be returned. Ask how same-day work sold at the door is papered.
