Assisted Living Facility Term

Move-in and move-out pace

Definition

How many residents arrive and leave in a month, under a stable occupancy figure.

Why It Matters

Occupancy is a level and this is the flow behind it, and two buildings at the same occupancy can be very different businesses: one filling three and losing three every month carries constant marketing cost and constant turnover work, while one filling one and losing one does not. Length of stay falls out of the same numbers. Ask for move-ins, move-outs and the reason for each for two years.
