Physical Therapy Practice Term

Units per visit

Definition

How many billable treatment units a visit produces, set by time and by what was done.

Why It Matters

Revenue per visit is units times rate, so a clinic can look busy and bill thin, and a clinic can bill thick in a way that invites an audit. Both of those are findings. Ask for units per visit by therapist against the payer's own guidance, and treat an outlier in either direction as a diligence item rather than as a number to project forward.
