Drywall Term
R-value disclosure
Definition
The receipt an insulation installer must hand every customer, and what has to be on it.
Why It Matters
A federal trade rule sits on the installer and not the manufacturer. The receipt must be dated and signed and show coverage area, thickness and R-value, and for loose-fill it must also show the minimum settled thickness and the number of bags used. Work in several parts of a house is itemized per part and the coverage areas may not be summed. The bag count is the most checkable compliance artifact in the trade, and it is also how a buyer discovers whether crews have been under-blowing attics.
