MyEyeDr

The Firm

MyEyeDr is a Vienna, Virginia vision-care company founded in 2001 that has grown into one of the largest optometry platforms in the United States: 952 locations at the end of 2025, targeting 1,000 in the first half of 2026, and a perennial top-ten name in Vision Monday's US optical-retailer ranking. It grows by acquiring the practices of independent optometrists and keeping the doctors and their clinical autonomy in place.

Its model is the optometry-DSO bargain: MyEyeDr takes the non-clinical business side (real estate, billing, purchasing, marketing) while the optometrist keeps practicing, and it says it targets high-quality practices that prioritize clinical excellence, medical eyecare, and lasting patient relationships. Its April 2026 purchase of Lumina Vision Partners, a 28-location group across Arizona and Texas, shows the scale it reaches beyond a single storefront.

For an optometry searcher, MyEyeDr is the largest competing bidder and a standing exit at once: any owner weighing a sale has a DSO offer like it available, and a searcher's bid competes with that offer's certainty. It buys established practices with real patient bases, so a clustered, multi-doctor practice is closer to what it acquires than a single chair.
