Anaqua

Who They Are

A Boston intellectual property software company that grows by merger and by purchase and runs the combined business itself, so a seller's conversation is about clients and platforms rather than staying on.

In the company's own words, Anaqua is a premier provider of integrated intellectual property management technology solutions and services for corporations and law firms. It says nearly half of the top 100 US patent filers use its solutions and over two million IP professionals use the platform. It was founded in 2004 by IP leaders at Ford and British American Tobacco and is headquartered in Boston.

What it said it was doing at Lecorpio was merging, and its release called the deal another example of its momentum, beside its purchases of AcclaimIP and IdeaPoint. The combined company was to keep both brands and both platforms, with Anaqua's chief executive leading it, and a Golub Capital loan supported the merger. Its product list today does not name Lecorpio, and in August 2026 it announced the purchase of Unified Patents.

Search-Fund Companies They Bought

  • Lecorpio · 2017

Jay Madsen bought Lecorpio, a Fremont maker of intellectual property management software for corporate legal departments, in 2012 through his search vehicle Accretia Capital, with Search Fund Partners and Endurance Search Partners behind him, and ran it as chief executive. Anaqua and Lecorpio merged in July 2017; he stepped down, and Anaqua's chief executive, Bob Romeo, led the combined business. [1][2]
