The Armstrong Company
The Firm
The Armstrong Company started in 1957 as a family-owned mover in Memphis and now runs 34 markets and five million square feet of warehouse space across more than twenty states. It describes itself as a global leader in supply chain services and residential and commercial moving, and its corporate office sits at 8275 Tournament Drive in Memphis.
Its acquisitions have a consistent shape and it is the shape a moving-company seller should expect: multi-generation United Van Lines agents in a city Armstrong does not yet cover, bought whole. MacDonald in Michigan had been a United agent since 1948, Humboldt was Greater Boston's oldest mover, and Fry-Wagner was a fourth-generation St. Louis family business whose Kansas City operations Armstrong took. In each case the release names the family and the founding decade before it names the price, which it never does.
The pace has not slowed. Five dated announcements sit on its own newsroom inside the window, and the two most recent, a third-party fulfillment business in Los Angeles and a moving and logistics company, show the buying widening past household goods into warehousing and distribution.
What It Buys
Memphis, Tennessee. A Memphis moving and storage group that buys long-established van line agents one market at a time and keeps the acquired name on the building and the crews in place.
Selling to them one day, or watching them as the other bidder? Track them in the Contact Book so the relationship has a next-touch date.
Confirmed Deals
3 deals traced to announcements by The Armstrong Company, 2022 to 2025, newest first. Firms that announce every deal show a fuller run here than firms that report acquisitions as quarterly counts, so read this as the evidence that clears the bar rather than as the firm's whole record.
Nothing newer has cleared the bar in 12 months, against a registry whose newest confirmed deal is August 6, 2026. A gap past 12 months can mean the firm has slowed, or that it has stopped announcing; treat it as a prompt to check its own newsroom before assuming either.
