Ardent Health is a publicly traded health system headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, running 30 acute-care hospitals and more than 200 sites of care across six states with over 1,800 affiliated providers. Its growth lane now includes ambulatory care, and urgent-care clinics are the piece it buys to widen the front door to its hospitals.
In January 2025 it bought 18 urgent-care clinics from NextCare, folding six into its Lovelace system in New Mexico and twelve into Hillcrest in Oklahoma, a health system taking centers off a national urgent-care operator to deepen two markets it already anchors.
For an urgent-care searcher, Ardent is the strategic buyer beside the private-equity platforms Shore Capital builds: where a financial buyer rolls centers into a standalone platform, a health system buys them to feed referrals into its hospitals.
