Allied Universal
The Firm
Allied Universal describes itself as a leading security and facility services company operating in more than a hundred countries with a global workforce of roughly 770,000 people, and traces its history back more than sixty years to a 1957 founding. It runs under the Allied Universal brand in North America and the G4S brand internationally, and staffs security officers at a scale no owner-operator approaches.
Growth by acquisition is explicit strategy. By its own account it completed seven transactions in 2025 with combined annual revenues near $695 million, and its own newsroom dates the guarding additions among them: Mulligan Security in New York and IPS-Patriot in New Mexico, both officer-staffing companies folded into its regional operations. In its own words it buys to expand geographic footprint and add capabilities in key service categories.
For a security-guard searcher the read is sober: Allied Universal is rarely bidding on the small contract book an individual buys, but it sets the ceiling in the trade and is the most visible exit, since a well-run regional guarding company with sticky commercial accounts is exactly what it acquires to enter or deepen a market. Anyone meeting the company should know the officer-staffing model it runs at national scale and that its offer competes on purchasing power and technology, which is where an owner-operator's local relationships hold the edge.
What It Buys
Irvine, California. Regional security-guard companies bought into a continent-spanning guarding network, the giant a security-guard searcher meets as the market's ceiling-setting bidder and eventual exit.
