# Used oil generator

A term used when buying auto repair shop.

The federal status a shop takes on by producing used oil, setting how it stores and ships it.

The obligations follow the site and not the owner, so an unlabeled tank, a leaking container or a spill nobody cleaned up arrives with the keys. Under the federal rule the pickup record is the transporter's, signed at each pickup and kept three years. Ask for three years of those records and walk the storage area yourself. A shop that cannot produce them has either been paying cash to whoever turned up or has not been disposing of it at all, and the second is a cleanup the buyer finds after closing and pays for alone.
