# Spray booth filter

A term used when buying auto body shop.

The federal finishing rule spares booths a federal operating permit but requires 98 percent overspray capture.

A booth run past its filter change fails inspection and lays a contaminated finish, which the shop absorbs as rework it cannot bill. The filter specification and replacement records are the cheapest read available on whether maintenance was deferred generally. Where a state still requires its own air permit, as Ohio does above its de minimis level, they sit beside it. A booth with no logs behind it is about to need work, and that work happens while the booth is not earning.
