# Business contract renewal

A term used when buying window cleaning.

The renewal rules that reach a commercial book, since consumer law does not.

Most consumer cancellation statutes here reach only services bought for personal, family or household purposes, so a commercial route gets none of those. Two states reach business contracts instead and both make the renewal unenforceable if the seller stays quiet. New York requires written notice, served personally or by certified mail, at least fifteen and no more than thirty days before the customer's own cancellation deadline. Wisconsin requires a signed or initialed disclosure at signing, fifteen to sixty days of notice on a multi-year renewal, and voids any clause making the customer let the seller match a rival's offer. It lets a customer recover either twice their actual damages or twice the periodic payment capped at one thousand dollars, which is a choice of two measures and not one doubling. Its exclusion list is long, and the entry that reaches a route is a contract the customer can end on a month's notice or less.
