# Instructor pipeline

A term used when buying swim school.

Whether the school can train its own teachers, since certified instructors cannot be hired quickly.

Class ratio caps how many children one teacher can hold and teachers are the binding constraint, because a certified swim instructor cannot be hired on a week's notice and the pool sits half empty while you look. A school that trains its own has a supply nobody else in town has. Ask how instructors are certified, how long training takes, how many are in it now, and what turnover ran last year.
