# Drain and sewer share

A term used when buying plumbing.

The portion of revenue from clearing, camera work, and line replacement, not fixtures.

Drain work carries the highest margins in the trade and the least price sensitivity, because a backed-up line is an emergency and nobody shops it. It also needs equipment a buyer can count: jetters, cameras, and locators, each with a service life and a replacement cost. A shop weighted to new fixtures and remodels is a construction business with a plumbing license, priced and financed as one; a shop weighted to drains is a service business with recurring emergencies. Split the revenue before agreeing a multiple.
