# Applicator license

A term used when buying pest control.

The state license under which a pest-control firm applies pesticides for hire.

In the two states read here the license runs through a named person, so where the credentialed applicator is the owner the business needs a licensed replacement to keep operating, as with the building trades. Check the state the business works in before assuming the same. Ask for the certified-staff roster early and read it against the payroll, because a license held by a technician who is one bad month from leaving is the same risk wearing a different name. Categories matter too: California licenses fumigation, general pest and termite as separate branches and makes the company name a qualifying manager in each one it works, and Florida sorts its certificates the same way and bars work outside the category.
