# Tipping fee

A term used when buying junk removal.

What a landfill charges to accept a load, the largest variable cost in junk removal.

A company that underprices against these looks more profitable than it is, because the cost arrives at the scale after the job is quoted. Ask how pricing is set and whether it moves when the facility raises its rate, then check the last two years of tipping invoices against revenue. Disposal costs rise steadily and quotes given from a laminated card do not, which is how a good margin erodes without anyone deciding to let it.
