# Affiliate receipts

A term used when buying hardware store.

The rule that counts a buyer's other businesses against the same federal size ceiling.

The size standard for hardware retail is the tightest receipts figure among the trades in this theme, and the rule counts the applicant together with its affiliates and not the store alone. A [searcher](https://searchspheresource.com/glossary/searcher) who already owns one business is therefore spending part of the ceiling before they start. It binds on the second store and not the first, which is exactly when nobody checks. Work out the combined figure before writing an offer on a group, and expect the lender to work it out too.
