# Opener attachment rate

A term used when buying garage door.

The share of door jobs that also sell an opener, which is where the ticket and the margin move.

The door itself is close to a commodity and the opener is where a service call becomes a real ticket, so this rate says more about how the company sells than any revenue figure does. It is also coachable, which makes it the first thing a buyer can improve without spending money. Ask for it by technician over the last year. Wide variation between technicians means the number is a training gap and not a market limit, and a narrow spread near the bottom usually means nobody is asking at all.
