## The Firm

Whistle Express buys chains rather than single sites, which makes it a different kind of buyer from the Midwest platform above and a useful contrast for a searcher thinking about who eventually buys them. Its own newsroom announces each purchase with the seller named and the site count given.

The two deals below are the searcher-relevant end of its range: fifteen washes across the Carolinas, and five in the Cleveland and Akron market. A five-site group is what a searcher who has bought one wash and added four might own after several years, so this firm is a plausible buyer of a built-up position rather than of a first purchase.

One item on its own site does not count as evidence and is worth naming so nobody re-reads it: a February 2024 post about seven Louisville-area washes is a trade-magazine article republished under a staff byline. A clipping on a firm's site is not the firm announcing anything.

Read again in September 2026: the one purchase since Fins is the largest in the trade's history by its own description. It signed for Take 5 Car Wash from Driven Brands in February 2025 and closed that April, going from 147 locations in ten states to 530 in twenty-three, with Oaktree, its majority investor since 2023, quoted in both releases. The newsroom then ends at a December 2025 chief executive change that describes about 470 locations, sixty fewer than at closing, and nothing has been posted in 2026. The whole newsroom opened that evening starts in March 2024, when Magnolia Wash Holdings took the Whistle Express name. It adds the Take 5 closing and a seven-wash Louisville purchase the firm carries only as a reprinted article, and a new chief executive arrived in December 2025.
