# Safelite Group

Columbus, Ohio. The largest US vehicle glass company, which buys independent auto glass shops one and two at a time and publishes a release for each, with the closing date printed in the body.

## The Firm

Auto glass was held off this shelf on the reasoning that no platform announces the purchase of a single install shop. Safelite does exactly that, one release per seller, and the releases name the towns.

Read what it buys and the trade's exit picture is clear. Intermountain Auto Glass was one shop in Garden City, Idaho, and Sun Auto Glass ran Cortez, Pagosa Springs and Durango in Colorado. Ideal Auto Glass had Odessa and Sanford in Florida, and Thompson Auto Glass held three locations across New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Those are the businesses a searcher buys.

The one caveat a searcher should hold is timing. The published run stops in January 2024, so what this shelf can show is a buyer that has repeatedly paid for one and two-shop independents, not one that is demonstrably still shopping this quarter.

Read again in September 2026, still true: twenty months of press releases since Thompson Auto Glass carry a home office, a charity partnership and a hiring event, and no shop. Read beside Driven Brands' glass arm, which has bought nothing in four years, the two national buyers of independent glass shops have both gone quiet at once. The whole newsroom opened that evening holds nine more purchases from September 2022 to October 2023, each release printing the day the transaction was completed, and then nothing since January 2024.

## Confirmed Deals

Deals traced to announcements, newest first. Firms that announce every deal show a fuller run here than firms that report acquisitions as quarterly counts, so read this as the evidence that clears the bar rather than as the firm's whole record.
