# Kingsway Corporation

Chicago, Illinois. A listed holding company that hires an early-career operator first and buys the business second, so its plumbing deals are bid by someone running the searcher's own play with a public balance sheet.

- Website: https://kingsway-financial.com
- Runs a searcher or operator-in-residence program, so it competes for the same businesses while sitting closer to the searcher ecosystem.

## The Firm

Kingsway Corporation, listed and renamed from Kingsway Financial in May 2026, grows through the Search Xcelerator: it hires talented, early-in-career managers in its own words, and each one sources, acquires and then manages their own business inside the holding company. Its program page names seven operators-in-residence and twelve businesses bought through them across business services, healthcare services, software and skilled trades. Plumbing is the newest lane, with Bud's Plumbing in Evansville in March 2025 and AAA Flexible Pipe Cleaning that August.

The model is the reason to know this one rather than the volume. Every other firm on this page hires nobody and buys the business itself. Kingsway hires the buyer, which is the same play a searcher runs, with a listed balance sheet behind it and an employer's terms on top of it. The outcomes it publishes follow: Colter Hanson, one of the named operators, became president of Kingsway Skilled Trades in May 2026, and the officer at Bud's Plumbing holds restricted units that vest against that business's own rate of return rather than the parent's.

For anyone bidding on a plumbing company, the practical read is the structure. Bud's went for about five million dollars in cash and a seller note. AAA Flexible Pipe Cleaning went for $2.8 million in cash plus a $0.5 million seller note and up to $1.5 million more contingent on two years of results, which is a shape a first-time buyer with one lender cannot offer. The same firm sits on this site's job board, so a reader meets it either as the competing bidder or as the employer it would be.

Read again in September 2026: four purchases since, an Omaha plumber, a Maryland human resources firm, an Illinois accounting firm and a Michigan managed IT company, the accelerator's eleventh through fourteenth by its own count, each bought through an operating subsidiary. It sold a warranty subsidiary to its managers in May 2026 and took a new name and ticker the same month. The document sitemaps opened that evening added six purchases from 2022 to 2025, one of them the managed IT platform the later rows join and four in other trades. A clinical research purchase signed in 2023 has no closing anywhere, and a warranty company was sold in May 2026.

## Confirmed Deals

Deals traced to announcements, newest first. Firms that announce every deal show a fuller run here than firms that report acquisitions as quarterly counts, so read this as the evidence that clears the bar rather than as the firm's whole record.
