## The Firm

Cherry Coatings describes itself as one of the nation's leading commercial painting and coatings contractors, working in architectural, floor and maintenance coatings from a Dallas base. It has locations across Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Fort Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Waco and Washington DC.

The pattern in its own announcements is a metro entry rather than a bolt-on: each acquisition is a painting contractor in a city Cherry did not already serve, and the release frames it as expanding the national footprint. The Indianapolis purchase was a contractor doing more than fifty million dollars of revenue in Cherry's own words, which is well above anything a searcher bids on and sets the ceiling of the ladder rather than the rung.

For somebody buying a painting company, the practical read is that a commercial book in a metro Cherry has not entered is a strategic target for a buyer with a national platform, and a residential book is not. The trade's consolidation genuinely does run through paint distribution and franchising as well; this firm is the counter-example that a hold written from the distribution side missed.
